  • Build confidence expressing ideas orally and in writing through discussion and shared work.

Reading is one of the most important skills the children need to learn at this age. We expect the children to read their book at home each day for a short time. This needs to be written in their reading record books. The books you are given will be read throughout the week and will be changed on Fridays.

As part of Readmore@Phillimore on Wednesdays we will be holding a library day. Children who have their book bag will be able to borrow a book for the week.

We will explore

  • Explore 2D and 3D shapes, recognising, describing, and sorting their properties.
  • Develop practical money skills: identify coins and notes, calculate totals, and give change.
  • Learn multiplication and division through repeated addition, grouping, and sharing.
  • Strengthen problem-solving and reasoning using hands-on activities, visual aids, and interactive challenges.
  • Apply mathematical skills to everyday situations in engaging and practical ways.

Our Wider curriculum

We will learn about activists like Martin Luther King and Malala, exploring protests, the civil rights movement, and how individuals took action to improve lives and inspire change.
